Overview The AccelePort Xem asynchronous concentrator is an expandable, modular and intelligent serial communication adapter designed specifically for small to mid-size installations. The Digi AccelePort Xem is optimized for configuring high performance multiuser systems and broad-based server solutions for remote access environments. If your business is looking to reap all the benefits of high-performance workgroup computing at the lowest price per port, look no further than the AccelePort Xem. This powerful system lets you connect high-speed EIA-232 or EIA-422 serial ports to a PCI or ISA based system. The result is a fast, reliable way to connect terminals, printers, modems, instruments, and other serial peripherals, making it perfect for applications such as multi-point data acquisition, office/factory automation, and industrial control processing. These systems feature a host adapter card with a powerful on-board RISC-based processor that delivers 115.2 Kbps performance allowing applications to run faster. They also include a compact Digi PORTS Module that provides access to 8 or 16 high-speed EIA-232 serial ports or 16 EIA-422 serial ports. When configured for 32 ports using Digi's exclusive Extended Bus Interface (EBI), for example, AccelePort Xem solutions provide performance up to 115.2 Kbps, allowing each port to take full advantage of the high transmission speeds that are possible with today's modems, and providing remote users with access to LAN resources.
